Casting Overview
Low-budget short film (10–15 min) titled 'A Day in Purgatory' (Un giorno in purgatorio), competing at CICI's Film Festival at Castellammare del Golfo in Sicily. Directed by Andreas van Riet (NL).
Genre: Drama, mystery. Languages: English and Italian.
Logline: Two lost souls — a man too early and a woman too late — haunt each other as their passages through town turn into a mutual pursuit where the more they search, the less they find.
Synopsis: A man visiting a small Sicilian town mixes up the dates of his return flight and meets a mysterious woman on his final day. A woman from the same town returning home for the anniversary of her deceased husband discovers she's too late and gets visited by a familiar spirit. Both venture into town without plan or purpose, always just missing one another.
Production dates: 20–26 September 2026.
Location: Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to self-tape.
Compensation: Expenses and catering only. Intended for festival use — CICI's Festival first, then international festival run.

About the role A highly sensitive and observant man who seems to notice things before others do. The Tourist has left hearth and home to travel to a small coastal town in Sicily; not on business, nor for pleasure, but pulled by an inexplicable force of intuition. As he’s pulled deeper into the unknown, his failure to explain his feelings not only becomes a threat to his relationship, but begins to tear at the image he had of himself, as he’s consumed by a conflicting struggle to find an answer to the question of his own behaviour. What led him to disappear?
