A single French father who has been living in London flees back to France with his infant daughter after a legal dispute threatens his custody. He settles in a small Basque coastal town, where he struggles to raise the child alone whilst working at a surf shop, eventually finding unexpected support from the local community and forming a bond with a determined woman who helps transform his outlook on fatherhood.
