A British journalist becomes obsessed with tracking down the unidentified man who stood before a column of tanks in Tiananmen Square in 1989, a quest that takes him from London to America and China. As he pursues the story decades later, his investigation forces him to confront questions about truth, memory, and the ethics of photojournalism. His personal and professional relationships unravel as he digs deeper into a mystery that may be unsolvable, set against a backdrop of rising political tensions and fake news in the modern world.
