A young girl grows up in the final, chaotic days of the Second World War in Austria, navigating displacement, loss and the collapse of everything familiar around her. Based on Christine Nöstlinger's autobiographical novel, the film follows her family as they flee the advancing front and struggle to survive amid bombing, occupation and scarcity. The story is told largely through the child's perspective, capturing both the bewilderment and resilience of youth in the face of adult catastrophe.
