Janosik: A True Story

A young Carpathian highlander named Janosik becomes a legendary outlaw after witnessing the brutal oppression of his people by the Polish and Hungarian nobility in the early eighteenth century. Driven by a desire for justice, he leads a band of rebels who rob from the wealthy and redistribute their spoils among the poor peasants of the Tatra Mountains. The story interweaves romance and camaraderie with the violent realities of life as a fugitive, culminating in Janosik's capture and the harsh retribution of the ruling classes.
