Benzina

Directed by Monica Stambrini (2001)

Two young women go on the run after accidentally killing the domineering mother of one of them, their desperate flight forcing them to confront both the law and the tensions within their own relationship. Set against a bleak Italian roadside landscape, the film uses their journey as an exploration of queer identity, freedom, and survival. The thriller elements are interwoven with an examination of how love and danger can become inseparable under extreme pressure.
