A young Romanian plainclothes officer is assigned to shadow a teenager suspected of minor drug use, spending his days trailing the boy through grey provincial streets and filing routine reports. As the surveillance drags on, the detective grows increasingly reluctant to make an arrest that would ruin a young life over something he considers trivial and soon to be decriminalised. His superiors ultimately confront him in a tense, climactic scene in which a dictionary is used to dismantle his moral objections word by word.
