A troubled young man with a violent past struggles to reintegrate into society after his release from a young offenders' institution, but his efforts to go straight are undermined by the pressures of his impoverished urban environment and the pull of his former life. When he becomes entangled in a series of knife-related incidents, those around him must decide how far loyalty and compassion can stretch. The film offers an unflinching look at youth violence and the cycle of deprivation in contemporary Britain.
