An Italian drama series following two parents, Enrico and Anna, whose marriage has broken down, told simultaneously across two time periods — one showing how their relationship began and flourished, the other depicting the acrimonious custody battle over their young son that follows their separation. As past and present unfold in parallel, the series explores how two people who once deeply loved each other arrived at such bitter conflict. Their son Pietro finds himself caught between his warring parents, and a court-appointed expert attempts to unravel the truth of the family's fractured dynamics.
